I just heard something that really struck me as almost blasphemous. They (Who are they, anyway? They always are doing something…. Hmmm.. Sorry, that’s another article)… anyway, they are remaking “True Grit”. And, to top it off, they have Jeff Bridges playing the role of Rooster Cogburn. Jeff Bridges? Really?
Now, remaking a classic movie is always, in my mind, wrong. But remaking a John Wayne movie is just about sacrilegious. Can anybody really replace “The Duke” in any of the roles that he made famous?
Well, this got me thinking about it, and I honestly cannot think of anyone at all that I believe could replace John Wayne in any of the really classic movies that he made. I am not talking about the RKO movies back in the 30’s but am talking about the classic westerns he made from the mid 50’s on.
Rio Bravo, El Dorado, The Sons of Katie Elder, Cahill: U.S. Marshall, The Cowboys, Big Jake…. You know the ones.
I just can’t think of anyone that can pull it off. Can You?
If you can think of a John Wayne movie, and a current actor that could replace him in a remake, tell me about it below.

This ain’t about politics, Pilgrim. If you bring politics into it, left, right, center, or any other type, you are off topic, and will be deleted.
If you try to turn it into a Left / Right bashing session, same thing.
Please refrain from profanity. The Duke wouldn't like it.
